Enrolment Details 2018

Dear Parents/Carers

It is a pleasure to extend an invitation to you to attend our Information Evening for prospective parents on Monday 6 March at 7.00pm in the Roger Kennedy Centre (hall) and/or our “Open Day” sessions to be held on Thursday 9 March from 10.00am to 11.30am and 5.00pm to 6.00pm.

Living in the Eastlakes Macquarie Region, you have a choice of high schools.  Each has its own history, traditions, structure, culture and underlying philosophy.  The schools are different and, as responsible parents, your challenge is to choose a school that is best aligned with your values and beliefs and the aspirations you hold for your child both as a learner and as a person.

The educational environment you choose for your child really does matter.  The purpose of this correspondence is to present St. Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead, to you, as an excellent educational community which has an established history and tradition of realising the potential of children entrusted to our care.  It is a school founded in the finest traditions of the Sisters of St Joseph and committed to honouring their charism and drawing inspiration from the richness of their legacy.

St. Mary’s has been the school of choice for three generations of Catholic families in the Eastlakes Macquarie region.  It is recognised and acclaimed as a safe, disciplined, welcoming and caring community.  It is a school where paramount importance is given to building and nurturing quality relationships; providing excellence in teaching and learning; setting and maintaining high standards and expectations in all dimensions of school life and providing a sound spiritual framework for students’ personal growth and development as learners and as people.

Our students have a splendid history and tradition of outstanding achievements.  As graduates of Catholic schooling they continue to achieve to the highest standards of excellence across a broad cross-section of human endeavour.  This reality is a reflection of our commitment to be a generative community.  A community where the focus is on encouraging and supporting each person to continually strive to become more than they currently are, firstly as a person committed to a Christian way of life, and secondly as a learner.

In 2018-2019 we have been gifted with opportunity to demonstrate the outstanding capabilities of the teaching staff when we prepare for our first Year 11 and 12 classes.  This is a truly exciting time in the history of the school.  We are currently engaged in thoroughly detailed preparations to ensure that our transition to Year 11 and 12 will be an outstanding success from the very first year.

Applications for Enrolment for 2018 are now being received and Application forms are available from the General Office at St. Mary’s and all Catholic Primary Schools.  Details of our Year 7 (2018) Enrolment process accompany this letter.

With my very best wishes

Yours sincerely

Larry Keating
